Description
This is based upon the song "In the Girl There's a Room" by Sara Groves (and also loosely upon her other song, "Say a Prayer").
In her album "Tell Me What You Know," Sara Groves often alludes to the tragic topic of human trafficking, which is what I took at least a portion of the song to be referring to. Many songs on that album are inspired by a real human trafficking victim named Elizabeth, a girl from Southeast Asia, kidnapped and forced into a life of prostitution. Elizabeth was later liberated from her prison by a man working for the wonderful Group, The International Justice Mission. To read more about Elizabeth and Sara, you can go here: [link]
"in the girl there's a room
in the room there's a table
on the table there's a candle
and it won't burn out
in the woman there's a song
in the song there is hope
in the hope revolution
...
in the woman is a picture
in the picture is a girl
in the girl there's a room...
oh, tell me what you know
about God and the world and the human soul
how so much can go wrong
and still there are songs..."
